Crystal Halifax
I was fascinated by the vistas and history of the city when I visited Halifax for my exhibition there last May. Visually, Halifax encompasses many of my obsessions: heavy industry, bridges, shifting weather patterns, historical architecture, military installations, ports of entry. My observation of the light refracting across moving water inspired the crystalline surfaces of this suite of paintings.
As those of you who came out to my open studio last November will recall, I have recently completed a major work entitled 'Crystal (Halifax)' (shown above) which is the largest work I have made to date, measuring 96 x 60 inches. 'Crystal' and the related works depicting the same subject on exhibition at Gallery Page and Strange in Halifax and can be viewed by appointment. There are five paintings in the series, which can also be viewed online at my website.
